The president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has asked all Indonesians to support Komodo Island, one of the 28 Official Finalists in the New7Wonders of Nature.

The president made the appeal when he was officially inaugurating the new Lombok International Airport. According to The Jakarta Post, he asked the dignitaries present, and Indonesians in general, to vote for Komodo Island via SMS.

Indonesia SEA Games 2011 will be held in 11 days from November 11, 2011 – November 22, 2011 in two host cities, Palembang and Jakarta with 542 gold medals to be competed through 44 sports.Indonesia is set to host the 2011 SEA Games in the SEA Games Federation Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand 6 September 2006. This year is the fourth time for Indonesia to be host country for Southeast Asian countries sports festival after in SEA Games X 1979, SEA Games XV 1987, dan SEA Games XIX 1997.

10th Tanjungpinang International Dragon Boat Race will be held on 17-20 November 2011. The participants of this year race will compete for a cash prize totalling to Rp. 156.800.000 (US$ 18.500) and trophies from the Kepulauan Riau Governor and trophy from Tanjungpinang Mayor.

Alongside with this event the organizing committee will also hold  canoe race and jong race (jong = miniaturized boat).

To encourage participant from abroad, the organizing committee of this event will bear the accomodation as well as local  transport cost of the team member during the competion.
